ICC Champions Trophy

The Icc Champions Trophy is played every 2 years in various countries, over a two week period. The 2008 competition was scheduled for Pakistan but due to political unrest, and fear of player safety it has been moved to South Africa, to be played from September 24th to october 5th 2009.

Inaugurated in 1998, it is the 2nd most important fixture in the international cricketing calender,the World Cup,being the most important and played every four years. It is played to ODI (one day international) rules and standards on a round robin basis by the top 8 teams as listed by the ICC, 6 months prior to the competition.

The 8 teams competing are split into two groups of four:-

GROUP A GROUP B
Australia South Africa
India New Zealand
Pakistan Sri Lanka
West Indies England

The two top teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners of the semis going forward to play in the finals.

The two venues to be used are, The Wanderers in Johannesburg (known as the 'Bull Ring'), and Super Sport Park,Centurion in Pretoria. Warm up games will be played at Willowmore Park in Benoni, and at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

A fixture list will be posted once dates and venues have been confirmed.
